It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a blog
post, and even longer since I’ve written one about my kids, so, for your
reading pleasure, here are some of the things my kids have said recently!
One cold morning before ESL (English as a
Second Language) started; a grade 5 student: “Miss Nutt, these seats are cold.
I think we should buy new furniture that is warm and fuzzy!” (I’m sure that’s very high on the school admin’s list of
things to get done and spend money on…)
Grade 2 student: “I’m peckish for biscuits.”
(Not gonna lie, I had to look up what peckish meant! It’s the British way of
saying hungry, if you’re wondering, and was one of the kids’ spelling words
that week.)
Grade 2 student: “I can hold my breath and
stay underwater for 20 minutes!”
Grade 2 student: “I’m lucky I can hear—one
time I cut my ear!” (As he was waving a pair of scissors around his face.)
Grade 2 student: “Can we take this home for
homework? I LOVE homework! I do my maths homework really slow so it lasts longer!" (I’m such a mean teacher, I don’t let them have homework in ESL! Haha,
that is because I only see each class twice a week, and if they took something
home for homework, I would never see it again!)
Grade 4 student: “I’ll tell the teacher
that you guys are having a situation.” (Not sure what the “situation” was, but
it sounded serious. J )
And my personal favourite, from a grade 4
boy: “Why do teachers always wear those skinny sweatshirts?” (That would be,
cardigans. It took me several minutes to figure out what on earth he was
talking about!)
