Furlough Firsts

Being back in the US after three years in Papua New Guinea was a little shocking at first—not having to think about things like “Where did this water come from?”, “Don’t forget the clutch!”, or “Should I hang the clothes out, or put them under the house?” So here are a few things that I'm really enjoying about being in the US (in no particular order):

·         Fresh, squeaky cheese curds!

·         Carpet!
·         “Soft” roads! (That’s what a 3 year old friend calls smooth roads.)
·         Smoked mozzarella cheese sticks! (The first week I was back, every time one of my siblings came home, they brought cheese sticks. J It’s like they know me or something!)
·         Clothes dryers! (You can do laundry whether it’s raining or sunny, even at night!)
·         Ice cream! (Mackinac Island Fudge, anyone?!)
·         YouTube videos!
·         Quaker chewy chocolate chip granola bars! (Weird, I know, but I seriously love these things.)
·         Blueberries!
·         Two day shipping!
·         Milk that you don’t have to mix!
·         Soft furniture and beds—no foam pads!
·         Bratwurst! (You guys, they make brats with jalapeños and cheese in them—AMAZING!)
·         My niece and nephew! (I LOVE being Aunt Amanda!)
·         Automatic transmissions!
·         New electronics! (Whose batteries last for more than an hour!)
·         Clothes that don’t have holes or bleach stains!
·         My church! (And playing on the worship team again!)
