Five Perks of a Bucket Shower

I'm sure some of you may be wondering how we bathe here at POC...do we run down to a river? Or maybe we just do without for 12 weeks? (Yikes, that's a scary thought!) No, not to worry! We do shower...with a bucket!

  1. The infamous
    bucket shower!
    Electricity went out? No worries! Buckets don’t need an electric pump to work.
  2. Enjoying that water so much that you’re tempted to take an extra-long shower? No worries! When the bucket is empty, you’re done.
  3. Have trouble figuring out which knob is hot and which is cold? No worries! One bucket, one temp. (Lukewarm is usually a good bet…not too cold, not too hot.)
  4. Concerned about getting pruny fingers and toes from all that wonderful water? No worries! Navy showers (turn the water on, get wet, turn the water off, soap up, turn the water back on and rinse off) were invented for situations just like this! That is, housing 50+ people during the dry season when it doesn’t rain very often.
  5. In the end, whether the shower is plumbed or from a bucket, the result is the same…you’re clean! J
"...though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."
~Isaiah 1:18b

  1. So funny! Lack of water is not our problem these days.

    1. It's becoming less of a problem as we start heading into the rainy season now. We are so thankful every time it rains!
